

The groups working in room 4 for reading have taken
the Scott-Foresman Reading Unit 4 test and are now reading in the 5th book for
Grade One. Some of
The stories are familiar, popular stories found in
children’s trade books. The
children are excited about reading and I am excited to see their enthusiasm and
their gains! They love to have a
time for ‘silent reading’ when they choose books to explore at
their individual desks now. They
are always saying, “Look, Mrs. Johnson! I can read this!” It is so rewarding to me. I place it right up among the wonders of
the return of green grass and spring flowers!
We are still working hard to become familiar with
numbers and their place in our world!
We are learning to use math tools:
rulers, calculators, clocks, calendars, thermometers, graphs, templates,
rods and cubes, number grids, lines and manipulatives to mention a few!

learning about landforms, where they are, why they are there and how we use

Friday, May 13th we will be treated to a
visit from Stonewall Farm. They
will bring some animals and other demonstrations and lessons to us. This is a wonderful program and it
spares us the expense of transportation!
